Mexico, October 2008

We had a perfectly wonderful, relaxing time our past trip to Mexico! The weather was great! It seems every time we go it is better than the last! It was just Jeff, Sam, Grandpa, Nana and me! We checked out a couple new restaurants and of course went to JJ's. One night Sam stayed with Grandpa and Nana and Jeff took me on a sunset cruise. It was so much fun. We had some very funny people on board with us! But the sunset was beautiful. We had all the margaritas and beer we could drink as well! One of the days Sam and I were out in the water and we saw about 50 feet from us a couple of dolphins jumping in and out of the water, amazing! We saw so much activity in the water this time. We saw a stingray, tons of jumping fish, tons of crabs. We were even a a massive school of fish, what a trip!!! Very exciting!!

Yes, I am still here....

Yes, we are here! I have a lot of blogging to do! We made it back form our trip to Mexico and had a wonderful time! It seems since we have been back we have been so busy! I need to post about our trip and a few other things. Sam is good and very excited for Halloween! He is going to be Sam, The Army Man!! We will be working on some Halloween crafts, going to the pumpkin patch (today) and making some Halloween treats for his preschool Halloween party. Today is MY LAST day of enjoying life in my 30s! Trying not to let it bother me, but I would be lying if i said it didn't. But, it is the new 30, right??? We have a busy week to keep it off my mind. I have already had one very exciting, special night out on the town IN A LIMO, a sunset cruise and another party in my honor coming up to mark the momentous occasion so I am not complaining. I feel so lucky to have so many people making this venture in my life so special, and what great memories I will keep with me always.

Getting ready for Halloween!

We love Halloween over here! Last week we started putting out our decorations. Sam has been bugging me to do it for a while so we finally got them out! We still need to make a trip to the pumpkin patch and get our pumpkins, but that will have to wait until we return from our getaway. Sam has changed his mind on what to be for Halloween. He wanted to be Super Spy form one of the Backyardigans videos where Pablo is a Secret Agent, but now he is going to be an Army Man. This will be much better, since as Super Spy no one would really know who he was, he would actually look like a waiter. Spooky town. These all light up, move and make noises. It will drive you insane after hours and hours.....
Loves his lighted ghosts, hanging some in his room as well.
Cacn't seem to get enough of spooky town....

Playing with some of the hats in the costume box. Poor Buddy doesn't look forward to Halloween.

Sweet Boy

Last week I bought Sam a harmonica. He loves it and when he plays it doesn't sound too bad! Well the day we bought it we also were in Safeway and he saw all the little bears in front of the Starbucks in a bin, the ones that are dressed in costumes. Well he stops and decides to play the bears a tune. It was very cute and all the girls at Starbucks loved it. So we were there today and passed them as we were leaving. He says, "Oh I wish I would have brought my harmonica so I could play these little guys a song!" Then, "Oh I will just sing them a song!" So he stands there in front of them and starts singing some made up song. It was so, so cute! The girl at Starbucks just stopped what she was doing and watch him, as I did. Melted my heart. What a sweet boy.

Arizona Museum of Natural History

Last Saturday we decided to take a road trip to Mesa to go to The Arizona Museum of Natural History! What a drive, but so, so worth it! It is a really great place and we all had a wonderful time. There was one part we didn't get to and it was a hands on area like for crafts and stuff. We were headed in there and they were closing for a birthday party. But there is so much to see. Not just dinosaurs. We took my mom along. Jeff was home sick, poor guy. So that really gives us an excuse to go back again soon! I highly recommend it!

As we are walking into the museum we had to have his picture taken with these guys!

Inside the lobby area, these Mammoths are so huge!
Inside the exhibit

They had volunteers to expalin things. This guy was showing Sam some fossils. Sam had many questions for him.

Posing as a dinosaur himself, full sound effects as well!

He wanted me to take this picture of this shark so we can give it to his best buddy Zack!

They have this huge mountain built inside that is like 3 or 4 stories high. There are dinosaurs on each level and they move and make noise. There is a waterful as well that trickles down. And like every 10 minutes there is a flood and it just poors down the mountain. The pictures really don't do it justice, it is very cool!

Sam & Granny at the very top of Dino Mountain all the way to right.

Looking down
Looking WAY down at some eggs..

Poop Scene Investigation! They have an are that shows you many different animals and their dung! What it is good for, why it is the color it is, who are the worst offenders, all kinds of silly things.

Just checking out things....

The 3 of us in jail. Wow these jail rooms were tiny!

Poor little granny in jail, Sam put her in there and giggled his crazy giggle!
We went outside to pan for gold!

Comparing his foot!

These 2 below are in the lobby. It is amazing how huge they are, so impressive.

After our adventure we wanted to go to Organ Stop Pizza since it is in the area, but after driving around looking for it we called and they weren't even going to open until 5pm, bummer! So we went and had some lunch at Oreganos. Sam loved playing wioth the ball of dough they give to kids!

Turkey Baster

Sam found my turkey baster and asked if he could play with it in the water outside. I said sure, it can be washed no biggie. I can see him out my kitchen window and this is what he is doing with it. So I go out and say please don't drink that water, it is super dirty. He tells me he isn't, I know he is! YUCK, boys will be boys, what fun!
